HSE & Fire Safety Compliance
Overview
We help you meet the safety expectations of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Industrial Establishments Regulation (O. Reg. 851). This includes fire safety design, environmental compliance, and custom audits, risk assessments, and training to protect workers and maintain regulatory compliance.
Risk Assessments
What’s included:
We perform structured workplace risk assessments required under OHSA Section 25(2)(h) and PHSR regulations.
HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study): A formal process used to identify risks in equipment, workflow, or chemical handling by evaluating deviations from normal operations.
What-If Analysis: A brainstorming method that asks “What if something goes wrong?” to uncover potential safety gaps.
These methods help identify physical, chemical, ergonomic, and operational hazards in your joinery environment — and we deliver practical mitigation strategies.

Why it’s essential in Ontario:
01
Required by law when introducing machinery or processes under O. Reg. 851 Section 7
02
Prevents Ministry of
Labour fines and
downtime
03
Enhances worker
protection and insurance readiness
03
Required for Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PHSRs)
PHSR – Pre-Start Health and Safety Review
Under Ontario Regulation 851, a PHSR is a legal engineering report that must be completed by a licensed professional engineer before starting or modifying machinery, racking systems, or systems using flammable materials.
We provide full PHSR documentation including:
1. Hazard identification
2. Engineering risk controls
3. Verification of compliance with applicable CSA and ANSI standards
Fire-Rated Door Engineering
We design and assist in the certification of custom fire-rated wood doors per:
Ontario Building Code (OBC)
CAN/ULC-S104 testing standards
This includes:
– Drawing/spec package preparation
– Lab testing coordination
– Certification label placement and documentation
– Review of frame hardware and gasketing
Our process ensures that your doors meet legal requirements, insurance criteria, and safety best practices.
Environmental Compliance
Our team helps you create and implement:
– Waste Management Plans
– Emission Reporting
– Spill Prevention Programs
– Noise/Dust Monitoring Protocols
These are especially important in woodworking shops using solvents, adhesives, or cutting composite wood.
